BEVERLY HILLS—Catching up with local socialite, film, stage and TV star Constance Towers is always exciting, fun and simply put very fascinating. The beautiful star who shot to fame at Columbia Studios starring opposite some of Hollywood’s biggest icons, such as; Glenn Ford, John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter, Woody Strode and William Holden is also well known today in the very evil but popular role of Helena Cassadine on ABC’s mega daytime series “General Hospital.” Towers has four cult classics in her resume. Two of John Ford’s westerns “Sgt. Rutledge” and “The Horse Soldiers” and two by maverick filmmaker Samuel Fuller “Naked Kiss” and the newly released on DVD and Bluray “Shock Corridor.”

Towers has also starred opposite Academy Award® winners Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow in “A Perfect Murder,” and now she’s still finding exciting roles to fill in her spare time. I say spare time, because when the beautiful star is not busy doing charity work for various organizations around Los Angeles County or visiting her beloved children and grandchildren, she’s on every network catching our attention. Recently seen on CBS’s “Criminal Minds” to “Cold Case.”

This week I caught up with Constance just before the holiday rush. Here is the talented beauty in her own words.

Q-The last time we caught up with you, you were very busy. How are your projects coming along with your social interests?

A-“Tommy, I am very busy with a wonderful organization called ”˜The Blue Ribbon.’ We are an independent support group to the Resident Companies of the Los Angeles Music Center. I am president and loving the responsibility. We have been in existence since 1968 when we were founded by Dorothy Buffum Chandler of the LA Times family. In forty three years we have raised over 68 million dollars for the support of the Resident Companies and many millions more in private contributions to the arts.”

Q-Fans are forever asking me, when will Helena return? Do you have any ideas about Helena’s return to Port Charles in the new year?

A-“I keep hearing rumors that Helena will be returning after the beginning of the new year. If enough people write and call in, it will happen.”

Q-You are world renowned for your singing as well as your acting. Will you be doing any concerts in the near future?

A-“I am always doing concerts and loving it. I sing mostly from the American Song Book and mostly Rodgers and Hart/Rodgers and Hammerstein music.”

Q-Is it true that you are being considered for a primetime show?

A-“I am up for a primetime show. That happens often but so few shows actually happen you never know. I made a pilot last year called “Two $ Beer.” It was brilliantly written with a great director and cast and it wasn’t picked up. I think it was too good.”

Q-How will you be spending your holiday season this year?

A-“Our holidays will be spent with part of our family in Los Angeles. Unfortunately my grandsons are on the east coast and can’t always travel. Their parents are doctors with busy schedules.”
