WASCO, CA—On the evening of Saturday, July 12, 2025, a single-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a woman, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:36 p.m. on Bell Road, just south of Peterson Road.
Preliminary findings indicate that a woman was driving a 2003 Nissan Xterra southbound on Bell Road when the vehicle veered off the east side of the roadway for unknown reasons and collided with a tree. The impact caused significant damage, and the vehicle came to rest on its wheels facing east.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the driver dead. She was the only occupant in the vehicle. CHP confirmed that the woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Her identity will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
It remains unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, and investigators have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision. The California Highway Patrol’s Buttonwillow Area Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
Wrongful Death Claims
