LOS ANGELES—Vice president of player personnel for the Miami Heat, Eric Amsler was hired by the Los Angeles Lakers. He will become the franchises Assistant General Manager, ESPN’s Sham Charania reported. Amsler spent 22 years working for the Miami Heat.

His long tenure with the franchise included him being in charge of the scouting department and was the general manager for their G League team. Rob Pelinka made it clear at the end of the season that adding to the front office was important. The Pelicans stats and analytics specialists, Rohan Ramadas was the first hire.

There is conflict in the Buss family with Jeannie trying to halt the sale of the team. Mark Walter sold his majority stake to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner. The decision to hire Amsler is to look for players that can contribute for the franchise.
