HOLLYWOOD HILLS—In response to fire red flag warnings throughout California, wrestler and actor John Cena announced his pledge to donate $500,000 to a charity that assist firefighters in aid. It was announced via a Twitter video on Tuesday, October 28.

“I’m asking that today on #FirstRespondersDay we do everything we can to help those who risk their lives to protect us all,” said Cena via Twitter.

The funds also honors National First Responders Day, for the work firefighters performed in containing the massive blazes across Southern California including the Getty Fire and Sandalwood Fire which impacted 200,000 residents and businesses collectively.

Celebrities including Lebron James and Arnold Schwarzenegger were amongst the ones evacuated due to the dangers of the blaze and air quality.

Cena will star in the upcoming family comedy “Playing with Fire” which will be released on November 8. The movie stars Cena along with Keegan Micheal Key, John Leguizamo, Brianna Hilldebrand, Dennis Haysbert, and Judy Greer.
