Knife-Wielding Assailant Nearly Rapes UCLA Student

WESTWOOD—A UCLA student who was jogging through the Northwest portion of the school’s popular perimeter path fought off a knife-wielding suspect who attempted to sexually assault her on Friday, May 29.

The attack, taking place at approximately 4:50 a.m., occurred while the student was jogging northbound on Veteran Avenue towards Sunset Boulevard.

Approaching the victim from behind, the suspect brandished a knife at her and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim managed to fight off her attacker and escape with only minor physical injuries.

The suspect, who is described as approximately 6 feet tall and of medium-to-large build, was wearing a black hoodie and black pants and the time of the attempted rape.
