MALIBU—On Wednesday, January 21, the city of Malibu posted on its Facebook page that the city determined the 2026 annual minimum wage increase to be 3.7 percent based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), resulting in a minimum wage of $17.91 effective July 1, 2026, for all employers within city limits.

In 2016, the Malibu City Council approved a phased annual increase of the minimum wage. Once it reached $15, Malibu’s minimum wage has been adjusted annually on July 1 based on the CPI for the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim region, as measured by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Each January, the CPI is finalized, and the upcoming July 1 minimum wage increase is set to reflect changes in the cost of living.

All employers are required to post Malibu’s minimum wage notice at job sites alongside required federal and state labor postings. The poster is available at: www.malibucity.org/minimumwage.
