BEL AIR—Charges were filed today against Joshua James Corbett, 39, of Montrose, for breaking into actress Sandra Bullock’s home on June 8. The incident in question occurred at around 5 a.m., when the suspect climbed a fence to gain access to the actress’ West Los Angeles property.
Authorities responded to a 911 call that was received from inside the victim’s home and Corbett was arrested on the scene.
The actress was at home during the time of the break-in. According to a press release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Deputy District Attorney Wendy Segall of the Target Crimes Division indicated that Corbett is charged with one felony count of first-degree residential burglary, stalking and possession of a machine gun.
Prosecutors have recommended that Corbett’s bail be set at $185,000. He was not in possession of the machine gun during the break-in. He could face up to seven years and four months in state prison if convicted of all charges. The case is still under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
