HOLLYWOOD HILLS—A man fell 40-50 feet into a construction hole on Thursday, January 2 on 1411 N. Hobart Blvd.

At 8:37 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department informed the public that a man had fallen and become trapped inside the 3-feet wide confined space in the Hollywood area. Officials were able to secure the man, whose identity and age are unknown, with a two-line rope system.

The Urban Search and Rescue Task Force set up and assessed the situation to ensure a safe and successful rescue. The LAFD set up a ventilation system to ensure the victim had enough access to fresh air due to the unknown air quality in the confined space.

Approximately one hour after the entrapment was reported, the victim was successfully and safely removed from the confined space using a “rig to raise” operation by the LAFD. There were no reports of any immediate injuries to the victim, who was later taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated by paramedics before being released.
