WEST HOLLYWOOD—A woman suspected of attacking customers at a Target store in West Hollywood has been ordered to appear for a mental health assessment hearing in July.

The suspect, 34-year-old Layla Trawick, is believed to suffer from mental illness and has reportedly had prior offenses connected to drug and alcohol abuse.  She is accused of wounding four people inside of the Target store in May by slashing them with knives she had allegedly brought inside the store.  One of the victims was reportedly a mother who Trawick allegedly stabbed in the neck while the victim had attempted to protect her baby.

Court reports indicate that Trawick had previously been arrested in Beverly Hills for the alleged use of drugs and alcohol in a public location.  The defendant has currently pleaded not guilty to four charges of attempted murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.  Trawick is currently in custody with a bail amount set at $4 million.
