PASADENA—Before 83,000 screaming fans the Mexican National Soccer Team earned a 2-0 victory over Jamaica to conclude the three game section of COPA America Centenario played at the Iconic Rose Bowl.

The first game played on June 2 featured Ecuador and Brazil which ended in a 0-0 draw. On Tuesday, Columbia defeated Paraguay 2-1 in exciting fashion. This led to Thursday night’s main event with Mexico having a distinct home field advantage.

The USA Men’s National Team won their last two to advance to the knockout stage. Meanwhile, Mexico will play Venezuela on Monday, June 13 to determine who will win their group.  Against Jamaica, the scoring came from Chicharito and Oribe Peralta to seal the victory much to the delight of the loud and proud fans of El Tri.

The USA and Mexico respectively have advanced to single elimination and may meet each other in a re-match of last fall’s thriller, in a 3-2 Mexico victory. Good luck to both teams, and may the “beautiful” game continue to flourish here and around the world.

This is the first time this tournament has come to America and is celebrating an impressive turnout to watch these matches.
