HOLLYWOOD HILLS—The Fourth District of Los Angeles posted a Fourth of July resource guide to their website. The guide covers early park closures and traffic advisories during the holiday weekend.

Parks that will be affected by the closures are listed below:

Runyon Canyon Park

  • Friday, July, 3 through Sunday, July 5, Runyon Canyon Park will have an early closure of 5 p.m.

Jerome C. Daniel Overlook

  • Closed on Saturday, July 4.
  • On Friday, July 3, and Sunday, July 5, Jerome C. Daniel Overlook will close early at 6p.m.

Universal City Overlook

  • Closed on Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5.
  • Thursday, July 2, Universal City Overlook will close early at 6 p.m.

Traffic advisories listed below:

  • Effective only on July 4, “No Stopping Anytime” signs will be posted on Mulholland and Multiview to Wrightwood.
  • Effective only on July 4, CD4-A-frame barriers will be placed on the East and West of Jerome C. Daniel Overlook, limiting access to street sides.
  • Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will be placed at Cahuenga, Mulholland, and Laurel Canyon; signs will be posted to alert travelers of park closures.

Posted on the Mountain Recreation & Conservation Authority (MRCA) website, the park closures are set in place to ensure the safety of the public and natural resources within the parks.

The MRCA notes that they will have more than 50 full-time, seasonal, paid, volunteer, and wildland firefighters patrolling the MRCA parklands, prepared with firefighting equipment.
