MALIBU—Caltrans have noted that the closure of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu will last until the end of the month. Major delays in traffic are expected to occur along PCH in Santa Monica.

PCH was closed a month ago due to mudslides that covered the roadways in debris. The mudslides were a result of the Springs fire that took place seven months earlier. The closure was set to re-open in mid-January but on New Year’s Eve the agency extended that time to sometime in late January.

Users of the road have began using the Ventura (101) and San Diego (405) freeways as an alternate route.
