WEST HOLLYWOOD—On Thursday, September 18, the LASD West Hollywood Station provided an update on a stabbing incident that occurred on September 14.

The victim, Maritza Gonzalez, 20, is still listed in critical condition at a local hospital. Through the initial and on-going investigation, a person of interest believed responsible for the stabbing, was discovered by the investigators. Information regarding the person of interest was disseminated to the West Hollywood Station personnel.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators responded to a stabbing investigation. The incident was reported Sunday, September 14, at approximately 3 a.m., on the 8900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station received a fight call at the 8900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. As deputies were responding to the fight, the call was updated to an assault with a deadly weapon, stabbing victim call. When Deputies arrived, they found a female suffering from a stab wound to her upper body.

The victim was treated by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and transported to a local hospital.

The fight involved several people and at this time, there is no suspect information to release. Homicide Investigators were not notified of the incident until 8 a.m. due to the severity of the victim’s injuries.

On September 14, the person of interest contacted West Hollywood Deputies to inquire about a person being detained at the station on an unrelated charge. The person of interest was detained. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, September 16. The District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges at that time pending further investigation.

The person of interest is cooperating with the investigation and there is no threat to the community. The investigation is ongoing. There is no additional information available at this time.
