LOS ANGELES—On Monday, July 6, the Los Angeles Clippers signed Forward Rui Hachimura to a two-year deal coming from the cross town Lakers franchise. The deal is for $28 million, where Hachimura, 28, will be able to provide the Clippers spacing from the three-point line.

Hachimura played 68 games while averaging 11.5 points in 28.3 minutes while shooting 44.3 percent from three. His three-point shooting took another leap during the postseason going up to 56.9 percent.

Although his play went up especially during the playoffs, the Lakers decided to go into a different direction. The decision was made after LeBron James made it public that he wasn’t going to be returning to Los Angeles for upcoming season. The Lakers were “looking for guys who can dribble, pass, and shoot” Dan Woike of The Athletic stated. Hachimura has been an exceptional shooter but not much else that the Lakers needed.
