Russian Politician Agrees To Cooperate With Investigators Regarding Fraud Accusations

BEVERLY HILLS—State Duma Deputy with the Liberal Democratic Party, Ashot Yegiazaryan, has agreed to assist in the current fraud investigation while remaining in the United States.

Yegiazaryan is under investigation in Russia for large-scale fraud in the amount of $66 million. He faces up to 10 years imprisonment if convicted.

As stated in press releases, Yegiazaryan fled Russia after receiving death threats from former business partners and is currently residing in Beverly Hills. He has been stripped of his parliamentary immunity and has been placed on the federal wanted list.

According to RIA-Novosti, a media source for Russian and international news, “This is the fourth time since the collapse of the Soviet Union when the State Duma stripped a lawmaker of his immunity.”
