SANTA MONICA—The city of Santa Monica will host Santa Monica Restaurant Week from Monday, January 6 thru Sunday, January 12 where it will feature fresh produce, flowers, nuts, meat, and dairy products being sold directly by farmers who grow them. Santa Monica Restaurant Week is a collaboration between Santa Monica Travel and Tourism, the Santa Monica Farmers Market, and the Buy Local Santa Monica program that give local chefs the opportunity to collaborate with farmers on what to grow next season based on culinary trends.

Throughout the week, thirty-seven local restaurants will participate with chefs creating custom dishes centered around 2020’s special restaurant week ingredient, Kumquat. Kumquats are a small orange citrus, the size of a large olive native to Asia. The fruit can be eaten whole, raw, stewed, pickled or made into marmalade.

Kumquats are a group of small fruit-bearing trees that are classified as citrus. In this photo are fresh picked Kumquats from Mondello, Italy by @marcowerber on Instagram.
