HOLLYWOOD—Get ready, things are getting exciting! The biggest time of the year for cinema buffs have arrived.  The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild nominees were announced on Wednesday, December 10. Leading this year’s pack of nominees was the film “Birdman” with a total of five nominations including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

There were indeed some surprises from the SAG nominations that could be a precursor to what Oscar has planned next month. Jennifer Aniston is starting to emerge as a likely contender in the Lead Actress race for her work in the movie “Cake.”  Another surprise is the complete omission of nominations from the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic, “Selma” that was virtually non-existent in the nominations.

The nominees were announced by “The Fault of our Stars” star Ansel Algort and Eva Longoria. The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be televised live on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 8 p.m. on TNT and TBS. A complete list of this year’s nominees can be viewed below.
