HOLLYWOOD—Actress Shannen Doherty is arguing against false claims made by State Farm regarding her past smoking habit, causing her emotional distress. The former “Beverly Hills’ 90210” star is currently in the middle of a legal battle with the insurance company after they disagreed over coverage to Doherty’s home which was damaged during the 2018 Woolsey Fire.

According to the actress, the insurance company not only released her home address and medical files as public information, which were protected by a court order, but claimed she stopped smoking cigarettes in March 2019. Doherty states she actually kicked her smoking habit back in 2015 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress was recently given a Stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis.

Doherty states she fears for her safety after her home address was released by her insurance company. The actress’ attorney motioned for the court to impose sanctions against the insurance company. Her motion came days after State Farm accused her of using her cancer diagnosis to garner “sympathy” at trial.

Doherty claims she was made to pay for repairs she believes should have been covered under her insurance policy with State Farm. She also alleges that some of her additional claims to the company were unjustly denied.
