LAGUNA BEACH—Actor John Clarke passed away at his home due to complications of pneumonia at the age of 88 on October 16.

His daughter, Melinda Clarke, 50, shared passing of her father via Instagram. “With much sadness I’m sharing that John Clarke my father my mentor passed as I sang to him. He is at peace. Death is as much a part of life as birth. He is in peace.”

According to medical reports, he suffered a stoke back in 2007.

The legendary actor is best known for his long-time role as Mickey Horton on the NBC soap “Days of Our Lives.” Clarke debuted as the character in 1965, where he portrayed the role for more than 39 years. In 1979, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Television Drama for his portrayal of the character.

In 2004, the star announced retirement from acting and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work on “Days Of Our Lives.”

He appeared in several television series throughout his acting career including appearances on “The Twilight Zone” in 1959 and “Death Valley Days” in 1952.

The star is survived by his wife Patty Clarke, children Joshua, Melinda and several grandchildren.
