BEVERLY HILLS—The Beverly Hills Police Department arrested a suspect in connection to the death of local resident that transpired in October 2017. According to Lt. Elisabeth Albanese of the BHPD, on October 10 officers from the BHPD and officials from the Beverly Hills Fire Department responded to a medical emergency in the 600-block  of  N.  Roxbury  Drive,  upon  receiving  a  9-1-1  call  of  a  female not breathing.

Officers attempted to resuscitate the victim, but Violet Yacobi, 67, was pronounced dead on the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed that prior to the 9-1-1 call, Violet’s adult son and daughter stopped by the home to check on her after they were unable to reach her by phone. She was last seen on October 9. It was at that time they found Violet unconscious and not breathing inside her home.

Detectives from the BHPD, the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force – Los Angeles Field Office and the Los Angeles County Coroner commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Violet’s death.  During their investigation, authorities determined that Violet died as a result of strangulation, and her death was ruled a homicide. Through physical, digital and other evidence, detectives developed adequate evidence to suspect Violet’s son, Daniel Yacobi, was responsible for her death.  Police suspect the motive behind Violet’s murder was financial gain.

“Today marks the day that my mom would have been 68 years old and not a day goes by that I think about her. She was an amazing mom who wanted nothing more than to see her children and loved ones happy around her and would do all in her power to achieve it. She had an everlasting presence that made those around her feel comfortable and joyous seeking her companionship and love. Her unrelenting and everlasting love held our family together to give us strength necessary to endure moments of struggle and consternation allowing us to grow and blossom. I will never forget the hockey games and the trips around the world we shared together. She always shared a positive outlook on the world around even at the darkest hours and provided us with unique tools and the right mindset overcome any obstacle in our path. I remember she always would always take moments to appreciate the fine moments of life; graduating dental school, getting married, raising a beautiful daughter (Evie) and always reminded us to do the same. To seize the day and appreciate that which you do have what her favorite moto. She always thank God for all that she did have and always saw life as full rather than empty. Mom I love you and miss you dearly. No words can express what you mean to me and I know you and Dad are up there smiling down upon us now. Love you dearly!
