HOLLYWOOD—I predicted last week that “The Martian” would keep the top spot at the box-office and was I right. Ridley Scott’s sci-fi epic maintained the top spot at the box-office adding another $37 million to its tally. In less than 10 days, the movie has already earned over $100 million at the domestic box-office. Not bad, not bad at all.

Grabbing second place was “Hotel Transylvania 2” which is still entertaining families. The sequel added another $20.3 million to its total. The animated feature absolutely has legs with moviegoers. “Pan”, the prequel to the tale that everyone knows, bombed at the box-office only taking in $15.5 million. The flick starring Hugh Jackman and Rooney Mara was set to debut in the summer and got pushed back. That was already a sign that the flick was in trouble, especially with a budget of $150 million. I’d say the fantasy flick will have a dismal drop during its second weekend in theaters.

The dramedy “The Intern” is still going strong at the box-office, landing in fourth place with another $8.7 million. After about 3 weeks in theaters the movie has grossed close to $50 million domestically. Rounding out the top five is the intense thriller “Sicario” with $7.4 million. This weekend, horror is unleashed onto audiences as “Crimson Peak” invades theaters.
