HOLLYWOOD—It was a battle for the top spot at the box-office this weekend. While many expected “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to earn the top spot at the box-office for the fourth consecutive weekend, it was Leonardo DiCaprio and his flick “The Revenant” that came damn close to unseating the movie titan. “The Force Awakens” took the top spot with $41.6 million bringing its domestic total to over $800 million.

With $38 million, “The Revenant” landed in second place. That was a shock for many industry insiders that didn’t expect the movie to earn such a high debut; that is good news for DiCaprio and director Alejandro Inarritu. Landing in third place was the comedy “Daddy’s Home” with $15 million. The film starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell have already crossed the $100 million mark. Another surprising debut was the horror thriller “The Forest” starring Natalie Dormer with an impressive $13.1 million.

Rounding out the top five was the comedy “Sisters” with another $7.2 million to its tally. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are proving to have a bit of box-office magic this year as the flick continues to wow moviegoers.

With so much Oscar fare in theaters, I have the inkling that “Star Wars” will indeed be unseated this weekend at theaters by sequel “Ride Along 2” starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.
