UNITED STATES—Vanessa Trump, wife of Donald Trump Jr. and daughter-in-law to the President of the United States, Donald Trump filed for divorce on Thursday, March 15.
The couple have been married for 12 years, where the couple was introduced by POTUS during a 2003 fashion show. They married tweo years later at Mar-a-Lago, a resort of President Trump that is located in Palm Springs.
“After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways. We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time,” said the couple in a joint statement they issued.
Trump Jr., the President’s eldest son recently made headlines for his involvement in the 2016 presidential campaign. He was present for a Trump Tower meeting in June 2016 that involved other top aides and a Russian lawyer. According to reports, his emails confirmed that he attended the meeting in order to receive information on politician Hilary Clinton.
The divorce comes a month after Vanessa Trump and her mother were hospitalized after she opened an envelope containing white powder. Hospitalization was only a precaution, and the two were not harmed. A Massachusetts man was charged for sending the threat via postal mail. Vanessa has hired New York attorney, David Feureisen to represent her in the divorce proceedings. Feureisen practices in several areas of law, including criminal defense. Trump Jr. was seen recently on a guys trip where he posted pictures via social media.
