SANTA MONICA—A man was arrested on Tuesday, March 8 after driving a pick-up truck onto the lawn of the Santa Monica Courthouse that prompted a lockdown of the facility.
According to the authorities, the motorist seemed to be despondent or disheartened about something.
A brief standoff took place outside the building on the 1700 block of Main Street, until the unidentified driver gave himself up shortly before 9:00 a.m.
Reports from social media indicated the man may have been a disgruntled employee or husband of a courthouse employee. Such allegations have not yet been confirmed by officials.
No injuries were reported from the incident and the case is still under investigation.
