SANTA MONICA—Santa Monica Pier’s Pacific Park has been named the best amusement park in California by Yahoo! Travel. Pacific Park beat out several other iconic California theme parks such as Six Flags Magic Mountain, Lego Land and Disneyland.

Yahoo! Travel picked the best amusement park in every state for the list. Although California’s Disneyland did not make the list, Florida’s Disney World did. Also on the list were Six Flags Great America in Illinois, Iowa’s Adventureland, Six Flags America in Maryland, Nickelodeon Universe inside the Mall of America in Minnesota and the Adventuredome, next to Circus Circus on the Las Vegas Strip.

Santa Monica Pier’s Pacific Park is the smallest amusement park on Yahoo! Travel’s list with only 12 rides. Pacific Park boasts that it is Los Angeles’ only admission-free amusement park. Although admission is free, parking is not. Patrons will also have to pay to ride any of the attractions in Pacific Park as well.

Parking at Pacific Park will cost between $6 and $15. During peak summer season, parking can be scarce, with the popularity of other nearby attractions including Santa Monica and Venice beaches, as well as Muscle Beach and the many restaurants in the area.

Rides will cost $4 and $8 depending on the attraction, with the iconic Pacific Wheel Ferris Wheel and West Coaster costing $8 each , or patrons can purchase unlimited ride wristbands for $28.95 for individuals 8 and older and $16.95 for children 7 and under.

Yahoo! Travel says that “In a state so packed with great amusement parks, Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier stands out for fun, atmosphere, and the sheer joy of playing on this famous landmark.”

Pacific Park’s summer hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 10 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
