WOODLAND HILLS—A high-speed chase on May 17 took police and highway patrol officers from Hollywood to Calabasas and then back again.

According to reports, the LAPD West Traffic Division pulled the driver over at around 7:50 p.m. in Hollywood. Sgt. Baeza with the West Traffic Division confirmed with Canyon News that the male driver was initially stopped on Hollywood Boulevard for committing “several traffic violations.” He then attempted to avoid police by driving onto the US 101 North.

Baeza noted that his officers were then aided in the chase by LAPD’s Van Nuys Division and later relieved by the California Highway Patrol. Midway through the pursuit, the driver pulled the car over, released two passengers, then continued to drive with one remaining passenger.

The CHP made the arrest at around 8:20 p.m. on Libbitt Avenue. The driver was arrested on felony evasion and DUI drugs charges. His passenger was tested for drugs, but it is unclear whether he or she face criminal charges as well.
