WEST HOLLYWOOD —Artist Thom Bierdz will be attending and doing a live painting to be auctioned off to support OUT for Work on Saturday, March 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mova Lounge (formerly Halo) at 1435 P Street NW, Washington, DC. Bierdz will also be reading selections from his award-winning autobiography “Forgiving Troy” followed by Q&A Sunday afternoon, March 7, at Books a Million, 11 DuPont Circle Northwest, Washington, DC, 20036, 202-319-1374.

Bierdz is the only openly gay actor to play an openly gay character (Phillip Chancellor III) on CBS’s “The Young and the Restless,” daytime’s number one drama. Last year, Bierdz received the Human Rights Award for his visibility and efforts to end discrimination. The live painting event will raise funds for Out for Work. According to Out for Work’s President, Riley Folds, “The event will help us raise much needed funds to support the empowerment of young women and men in the workforce, who want to create change and further our evolution as individuals and a society.” A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the new LGBT Community Center as well. Thom tells Canyon News, “I have never been to Washington D.C. and so look forward to being in such an important place. We are even getting a private tour of the capital building, and I am excited to bring along a friend from Turkey who just got his citizenship papers this week. He is new to America and is so enamored by all we have to offer in this free country.”

The fundraiser, open to all, offers heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Attire is festive casual with a suggested donation of $35 at the door.

Out for Work is a significant organization dedicated to the education, preparedness and empowerment of LGBT talent in the workplace. For more information on Out for Work, please visit outforwork.org. For more information on Thom Bierdz, please visit thombierdz.com.
