SANTA MONICA—The Santa Monica Police Department revealed that a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection to an attempted murder in Santa Monica and three additional home invasion robberies throughout the Southern California region.

Vacho Shahen, 32, of Las Vegas, Nevada was taken into custody on Wednesday, July 11, after the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Shahen for 664/187 PC – Attempt Murder, 211PC- Robbery and 459 PC Burglary. Shahen is currently in custody at a Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on an unrelated matter awaiting extradition to California for future court proceedings.

Vacho Shahen has been charged with attempted murder for his role in a botched robbery attempt.

According to a press release Canyon News received from Lt. Saul Rodriguez of the SMPD, on August 28, 2016, officers responded to the scene of a home were shots were reported fired on the 600 block of Adelaide Drive.

Officers found the homeowner shot once in the torso in a failed robbery attempt. The victim was transported to UCLA Hospital where he survived injuries he sustained. During the investigation, SMPD Detectives and Forensics Unit found DNA evidence at the scene, which was linked to Shahen and three previous home invasion robberies that occurred in the cities of Beverly Hills and Downey.
