SHERMAN OAKS—On Sunday, June 29, vehicles were damaged in a Sherman Oaks neighborhood after a tow truck attempted a carjacking in the region.
NBC Los Angeles reported the tow truck driver was attempting to steal a pickup truck when they lost control and struck two vehicles on the 13000 block of Cumpston Street after 8 a.m.
Video from a home security camera shows the tow truck hit a parked car before causing the pick-up truck on the flatbed that was poorly secured to fall off and later hitting a power pole that fell down.
No details about the driver, who fled the scene have been disclosed to the public. Anyone with information on the driver or the incident is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities took a theft report, in addition to a traffic collision report.
