Kern County, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, July 2, 2026, a multi-vehicle collision near Lebec left at least one person with injuries and prompted significant traffic delays, according to KBAK.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:15 PM on northbound Interstate 5 just south of the East Escape Ramp.

Authorities said the collision involved at least a Tesla and a gray sedan, with three vehicles in the number one lane and one vehicle farther north in the number three lane following the impact. The number two and number three lanes were reopened just before 2:00 PM, with no further closures reported in the area by 5:00 PM. At least one person sustained injuries.

The cause of the crash had not been determined at the time of reporting. No additional details regarding the identities of those involved had been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
