LOS ANGELES—On Monday, July 20, the Los Angeles Lakers signed two-time All-Defensive Team wing Matisse Thybulle to a one-year deal.
The deal is for $3.3 million, where Thybulle, 29, will be able to help the Lakers on the defensive side and provide some 3-point spacing. Thybulle is coming from the Portland Trail Blazers.
Thybulle played just 30 games this past season all coming off the bench for the Trail Blazers and averaged 5.8 points, 2.0 steals, on 39.8 percent from the three-point line in just 16 minutes per game.
Despite Thybulle missing time this past season due to left thumb and right knee injuries, when he was on the floor the defensive presence was on full display and now has the chance to help the Lakers reach their defensive ceiling.
Since the offseason stared, the Lakers have been trying to fill in spots with players who have the ability to be athletic, shoot and play defense.
Though he has been an up and down shooter in his career, the spacing that he can potentially provide will help the team success for this upcoming season.
