SANTA MONICA—On September 26, the Santa Monica Police Department said officers arrived earlier that day at a house in the 3100 block of Pico Boulevard for a welfare check. There, they found the bodies of a deceased man and a deceased woman, prompting an investigation into the deaths. The next day, on September 27, the SMPD released an update stating that the two were a married couple, and detectives had concluded that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.
The incident is believed to have occurred around 6:42 A.M. on September 26. The findings suggest that the husband shot his wife and then himself. At the scene, investigators found a firearm. This appears to have been an isolated incident with no other people involved, and there is no threat to the public.
The names of the deceased are being withheld until the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirms their identities and notifies the next of kin.
