HOLLYWOOD—It has indeed been an interesting first week in the “Big Brother 28” house. For starters we have reality TV icons in Angela Murray, Rick Devens and Dee Valladares have joined the game giving us 17 players this season. Which has been a trend for the past two seasons.
Now, would I consider all 3 icons. No. Truthfully, I would expect a player like Parvati Shallow or Tony Vlachos if you’re bringing talent from “Survivor” over to “Big Brother” not to mention out of all the BB icons you pick, Angela, c’mon? I would have rather seen other BB alums, iconic ones as you claim. The one good thing with this is that if fans get the actual all-stars we truly deserve for BB30, we won’t have to worry about Angela playing again because she’s playing this season.
With that said, it was sad to see Rachel go because her playing this season would have truly been iconic, but having only 3 players be eligible for Head of Household did not make me happy. Give all the players a fair shot. I seriously do not understand why the BB producers what haven’t done they did in BB10, let the houseguests vote before even ENTERING the house who the HOH would be. That would be fun.
Anyway, it was apparently a team challenge, where Dee came out on top with the first HOH of the season that comes with extreme power. What BB producers should have done if they want to play this safety game, is let everyone on Dee’s team also be safe. You can set the foundation, and Dee was doing that by of course reeling in Devens and Angela with allies and adding Barrett and Drew to the alliance. That is a core 5 and they seem strong, known as the Crossovers; yes, terrible alliance name.
Undetectable, don’t know about that as people are clocking the vets aligning early, but Drew and Barrett are the side pieces. An astute player would pickup on that when you mention a name and there seem to be immediate pushback. The question you should ask is why?
Dee has another side alliance with Haley, Kamu, Chuk and Devens known as The Red Corner. Do not ask me about the name because it’s terrible. She is placating Haley, Kamu and Chuk in case they gain power which is smart. Now with that said, you have a trio of Lyric, Melody and Mallory, and then you have the rest of the house, but alliances come fast and quick in the first week of the game. Its apparent Devens doesn’t know BB because he ratted the side alliance to Angela and Drew. Dee was not pleased with that and rightfully so, it can blow up in their faces if the Red Corner discover they are not Dee’s #1 ally.
Kamu is good socially but thinks of position as being more powerful than what it is, Haley is not liked by any of the women and most of the men in the house and Chuk is just weird. Their obsession with Lala aka LaTrice I cannot understand. She is not that damn close to Rome, Lyric is and they’re just jealous that Rome is not interested in working with them, as what they deem the most physical players in the game.
I also wish there was no Head of Household for week one so there was even more fluidity making it difficult for an all-too powerful alliance to form and annoy viewers. We do not like steamrolls BB, we like multiple alliances or a split house, steamrolls equal boring TV. If that happens, you can say goodbye to returning players for a while if this unfolds.
Lyric and Rome, didn’t see that happening are in a full-blown showmance. They have the puppy talk, the smooching, the canoodling and even sleeping in the same bed; jeez in only 4-5 days it already happened. This is why we need night one feeds. Bonds develop so fast, and as viewers things are edited that we really need to see for understanding the dynamics of the game. Anyway, the question of the hour was who Dee would nominate and what would be her reasoning.
A smart player would have pegged what Dee was doing with making the case that she’s going to pick one player from each team to nominate, but she told her team they were safe for helping her win HOH? Then we had too many people safe. No BB, the only person who should be safe week 1 is the person who wins HOH, everyone else should be fair game. Chuk, Rome and Jason being safe, meant 3 people who could have been targeted were immediately off the board.
She selects Taylor, Yash and Mallory. Mallory did not take the nomination well, and it immediately had Melody drop her like a hot wing. Melody you are showing people you are not loyal. Same with Lyric who wanted to create some distance, but the rivalry between Dee and Mallory is ongoing, and after the Power of Veto competition you will understand even more.
Taylor was a bit shocked, as was Yash, but they played it off the best way possible making Mallory a clear target for week 1. Jason and Lyric are close, and Jason is also close with Taylor, Rome, LaTrice (Lala) and Yash. So, with the BB Blockbuster still in play, who would be the replacement if one of the nominees wins the POV? Well, it was happening because Mallory, yes, the target of the week, secured her safety with a POV win.
Dee stated to her allies that Melody was going to be a back-up plan, but in BB things always change. With not too many contenders in play considering Dee’s main alliance and side-alliance. Chuk has to be the most boring BB players cast in a very long time. He is there basically as a muscle head, and Haley already calling herself a girl’s guy is not a great thing.
Hence, Ashley, who has been virtually invisible up to this point start to campaign to prevent herself from being the replacement nominee, but Dee had already made her mind up. I like that Ashley fought against the logic, but people have a blind spot for Barrett who cuddles with everyone and Drew who is that goofy, annoying brother.
Dee and Devens are playing well reeling in two different fractions of the house for safety. Lala, Melody and Ashley were much of the talk for potential renoms after the POV was won by Mallory. With Ashley on the block, things are getting messy because Jason spilled to the wrong person, Drew about his thirst to go after the vets and that got back to Dee, then Angela, Devens and Barrett.
Why is this bad? Jason is in hot water if almost any of them hit the block, Angela and Devens anyway. Drew is not gonna want to win HOH because if he nominates Jason, he could be exposed for his alliance with Jason and Melody, and he has too many people he’s aligned with. Same with Barrett. So truthfully, only Angela and Devens are vying for HOH on that side, with pretty much the rest of the house not vying for power at all. So stupid! Thinking you’re safe, when you are not the biggest cardinal sin of BB.
Drew’s biggest problem is he’s too loyal to the vets. If he doesn’t see he’s #4 that is bad, and you can’t go past the final 9 at best with those 3 still in the game; he has to get rid of at least 2 of them to have a fighting shot at a win.
So the thing that is important is how this BB Timecapsule will work, as that power will be vital to play of the game. Why? The viewers are going to vote for the underdog. They are not going to vote for those in power. That power does not kick in until next week. So week 2 can be very interesting, especially with Jason in hot water, but fans always like to see an underdog and the top alliance knocked off its pedestal especially if things feel boring.
This fan vote might be very interesting to keep the gameplay from becoming a steamroll, especially if the powers are game changers (DPOV, vote steals, HOH takeover, or perhaps something we’ve never seen), the notion of punishments were announced also, which means we can potentially put players we don’t like in hot water. All 3 nominees could be headed home with Yash in the front seat, followed by Ashley and Taylor. They don’t truly have that super loyal ally in the house for them.
