Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Saturday, September 19, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulting from a driver running a stop sign left two men in critical condition, according to KBAK.
The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 12:12 AM at the intersection of Brimhall Road and Renfro Road.
Authorities said a silver Nissan sedan was traveling westbound on Brimhall Road when the driver failed to stop at the posted stop sign and continued into an adjacent field at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck a large dirt berm and overturned.
Both the driver and passenger sustained severe injuries and were transported to a hospital, where they remained in critical condition as of Saturday morning.
It is currently unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
