FREMONT—The time to apply for the California Association of the Deaf (CAD) Youth Leadership Scholarship ends on July 1. CAD began accepting applications on April 23, when they first announced it on their website.

The scholarship is open to graduates of the class of 2014. “CADyouth will be giving away two $250.00 scholarships,” State Director Amanda Folendorf and Assistant State Director Karina Pedersen stated on the website.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be deaf, a graduating senior, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and show an interest in extra-curricular activities and organizations. The scholarship aims to encourage the winners to pursue higher learning through a junior college, college university or trade school.

To submit an application, a copy of the applicant’s current audiogram signed by a certified audiologist, if the applicant is not enrolled in a deaf school is required. A copy of the most recent transcripts with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher must also be attached. A letter or acceptance to an accredited college, junior college, trade school or university is also requested.
