BEVERLY HILLS—The “Sharing The Bounty” charity dinner that was to take place on September 18 was cancelled, but that did not stop the Beverly HillsFarmers’ Market, the City of Beverly Hills and top restaurants in the area from helping to ensure the homeless got meals.

Fresh meat, fruit and vegetables were donated to over 150 homeless individuals and families at People Assisting The Homeless (PATH) shelters inHollywood and Los Angeles last week. PATH is a non-profit organization whose goal is to end homelessness for individuals, families and communities.

According to a press release from the City of Beverly Hills, staff from the City picked up donations from restaurants like Bouchon, SPAGO, Via Alloro, Il Ceilo and Crustacean and delivered the food to local shelters. Most storage rooms for PATH consist of canned items, so the opportunity to cook with fresh ingredients was a treat. “These are ingredients I dream about,” stated Miguel Llorente, PATH’s head chef.

“Although it’s not the community dinner we originally planned for, the City ofBeverly Hills, local chefs and farmers still wanted to share the bounty and assist the homeless. Local farmers donated food, restaurants prepared fresh dishes and we honored the 20th anniversary of the Farmers’ Market by providing dinner to local shelters,” said Greta Dunlap, Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market Manager.

The organization is an important part of the City of Beverly Hills’ social services. PATH provides foods and shelter to homeless people in Beverly Hillsand Los Angeles. Their Hollywood shelter is located at 5627 Fernwood Ave.and their Los Angeles shelter is located at 340 N. Madison Ave.

“This effort is a great salute to Beverly Hills’ generous community of restaurateurs, farmers and ranchers. When we delivered the food to PATH, people were very thankful,” said James Latta, Human Services Administrator.
