BEVERLY HILLS—The City of Beverly Hills will be hosting Special Olympics delegations from Monaco and Gibraltar as a segment of the Special Olympics World Games Host Town program.

The delegations will involve Special Olympics athletes and their coaches. These individuals will invest their time in and around the city of Beverly Hills from July 21-24, as they take the time to prepare for the World Games.

The World Games will be held in Southern California from July 25 – August 2, 2015. More than 7,000 athletes from 177 countries and territories will be in attendance.

“We are thrilled to host these very special athletes our City,” said Mayor Lili Bosse. “They work so hard and their accomplishments are amazing and inspiring. We plan on giving them a real Beverly Hills welcome and showing them a wonderful time!”

The City of Beverly Hills, the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Wanda Beverly hills Properties LLC, Rotary Club of Beverly Hills, and several other anonymous and individual donors will collaborate and provide the Special Olympics athletes and coaches with food, housing and entertainment.

“The Host Town program gives each community an opportunity to showcase to the world what makes them special, but more importantly to provide citizens with a better understanding of intellectual disabilities that will lead to acceptance and inclusion for all,” said Patrick McClenahan, President and CEO of LA2015. “Long after the World Games are over, the memories of those three days spent at Host Town will leave a lasting legacy for Special Olympics Southern California and everyone who was touched by our athletes. We are thankful to all participating Host Towns and their tireless volunteers for opening their doors – and their hearts – to our athletes and coaches.”

The 2015 Special Olympics World Games will be the biggest sports and humanitarian event world-wide in 2015, and the single largest event in Los Angeles since the Olympic Games in 1984.
