Beginning March 12, 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau will begin mailing correspondence to all households.
SANTA MONICA—The city of Santa Monica is partnering with a network of community leaders to ensure that community members are accurately counted in the census in order to secure critical federal funding and fair representation for the state in Congress. The U.S. Census Bureau will begin mailing correspondence to all households to direct individuals to respond to the 2020 Census on March 12, 2020.City staff launched the Santa Monica Complete Count Committee consisting of more than 25 community leaders volunteering to promote the Census. Partnerships have also been made with the cities of Los Angeles and Long Beach for the development of two social media toolkits.“An accurate count ensures our community receives adequate federal funding and determines California’s allocation of seats in the U.S House of Representatives,” said Deputy City Manager Anuj Gupta.“The City’s outreach efforts are focused on reminding our community that participating in the Census is safe, there is no citizenship question, and the Census Bureau does not share information with any Federal, State, or local agency.”The upcoming Census dates include:
