SANTA MONICA—The city of Santa Monica posted on its Facebook page on Saturday, September 13 that there will be a Compost Giveaway on Saturday, September 20. The event will take place at City Yards located at 2500 Michigan Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The community is invited to join the Resource Recovery and Recycling’s quarterly compost giveaway. The compost is first come first served while supplies last.

Individuals picking up compost, should bring gloves and containers, as this is a self-service event.

There will be free food scrap pails to make collecting food scraps at home seamless. The event is open to Santa Monica residents, who must bring proof of residency. For questions, call customer service at (866) 311-7266.
