BAKERSFIELD—A man died late Monday night, September 22, 2025, after his vehicle crashed at high speed into a tree on South Real Road, according to KBAK.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:38 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Real Road.
Officers responded after receiving reports of a single-vehicle collision and discovered the vehicle severely damaged after striking a tree.
The driver, identified only as a man at this time, sustained critical injuries in the crash. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the vehicle had been traveling northbound at a high rate of speed before crossing over opposing traffic lanes and colliding with the tree. Police reported that speed and alcohol likely played a role in the crash.
Authorities have asked anyone with additional information regarding the incident to contact the Bakersfield Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a Wrongful Death claim
