HOLLYWOOD—Well not every superhero film is expected to be box-office gold. The reboot “Fantastic Four” underperformed at the multiplex this weekend, only taking in $26.2 million. Quite disappointing for a flick that cost more than $120 million to make, and received scathing reviews from critics and fans alike. It’s safe to say, the film is likely to drop more than 50 percent during its second week in theaters.

Maintaining first place at the box-office was Tom Cruise and “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” which added another $29.4 million to its total. In less than 2 weeks the fifth installment in the franchise has already crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office.

Landing in third place was the psychological thriller “The Gift” with an impressive $12 million. Not bad for an indie flick that has received terrific word of mouth buzz and strong reviews from critics. “Vacation” landed in fourth place with $9.2 million, while “Ant-Man” rounded out the top five with $7.8 million.

This weekend sees the release of the hotly anticipated “Straight Outta Compton” which will do battle with “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.”
