SAN FRANCISCO—On June 6, Anthony Guidera, the actor known for his role as the bodyguard in “The Godfather Part III” died at the age of 65. The San Francisco native was at his southern California home with his wife when his heart stopped beating. He was rushed to an area hospital and placed on life support on May 11. Multiple reports indicate that it was because of his Advanced Directive he was brought home and allowed to die naturally.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Anthony. We are devastated and trying to breathe through the impossible, taking each moment as it comes. Please hold this eternal light in your hearts and keep our family in your prayers,” Guidera’s wife, Valerie Anderson confirmed with a social media post.
The actor leaves behind his wife of 20 years and their son Nick.
Guidera’s acting debut started in 1990, after he played bodyguard, Anthony in “The Godfather III,” and Robbie in the 1995 film “Species.”
In 1996, he won the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss with co-star, Natasha Henstridge in “Species.”
He played a jumper in “Precious Find,” Maître D’ in “Til There Was You,” the Bridge City Guard in, “The Postman,” Tucker the co-pilot in, “Armageddon,” =and Gun Seller in “Annihilation” of Fish in 1999.
Guidera stared in close to 30 films and TV shows throughout 2023. He guest starred on the TV series “The Rock,” “Renegade,” “Baywatch,” “Star Trek,” “Deep Space Nine,” (The Circle), and Angel (The Ring).
