SANTA MONICA—Starting September 14, customers will have access to regional flights between the Santa Monica Airport (SMO) and the Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) with the JSX public charter air carrier, operated by Delux Private Charter LLC.
On June 25, the JSX Instagram page, flyjsx, announced that flights between (SMO) and (OAK) airports will start at $149 with terms applied. As seen on the JSX website, flights will include high-speed WI-FI, comfortable seating, coffee and tea, and will allow customers a check in time of 20-30 minutes before departure.
According to Businesswire, JSX will use an ATR 42-600 aircraft, which comfortably seats 30 passengers. In addition, the JSX ATR 42-600 aircraft will operate three trips per day, with two on Saturdays, between (SMO) and (OAK).
According to the city of Santa Monica website, the JSX air carrier was granted a Commercial Operations Permit and a three-year lease that allows the public charter to operate within the (SMO) airport until the date of November 30, 2028, when the lease is set to expire.
During the JSX lease, the air carrier established flight paths nationally, with Santa Monica to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport being the most recent.
Santa Monica still affirms its commitment to permanently closing the (SMO) airport at midnight on December 31, 2028, with the decision made back on September 26, 2025. The city will adhere to its 2017 Federal Consent Decree with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the closure.
