LOS ANGELES—On Thursday, March 3, the Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation held an awards luncheon at the Hollywood Palladium. Among the 24 award recipients was Fire Chief Millage Peaks.

Chief Millage Peaks has worked at the Los Angeles Fire Department for the past 35 years. He has gone from the rank of firefighter to captain, and is now fire chief of the largest fire department in the western United States. His department includes 106 fire stations, over 3,600 staff members and serves a population exceeding four million people.

During the awards ceremony Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said, “It’s an honor to be here today to share our gratitude with the brave women and men who work day and night to keep our city safe. First responders make a huge impact on our city and on our residents and the honorees along with everyone at the LAFD should be celebrated every single day.”
