MALIBU—The Los Angeles County Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station announced that on June 5, the Los Angeles County Malibu/Lost Hills Volunteers on Patrol assisted deputies in conducting a driving under the influence checkpoint in Westlake Village.
After the volunteers were briefed on their assignment, they helped deputies set up the checkpoint.
They continued to assist by tracking the information collected, monitoring vehicles detained by the deputies, and directing traffic through the checkpoint and the surrounding area. Volunteers also manned observation posts that had been set up, where they looked for drivers who either tried to switch seats with their passengers or tried to avoid driving through the checkpoint. They remained and assisted the deputies until the checkpoint was concluded.
Any Malibu resident interested in joining the Malibu/Lost Hills Volunteers on Patrol can submit their contact information on the volunteer website.
