SANTA MONICA—On Monday, August 17, a power outage left businesses along the 1300 and 1400 blocks of Santa Monica’s Promenade in the dark. The Southern California Edison (SCE) outage impacted residents and businesses forcing some of the businesses to close until power is restored. SCE indicated that the power outage was due to equipment problems.
On Tuesday, August 18, CSE scheduled an outage for Malibu to upgrade equipment between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
August and September are normally the hottest months of the year, with temperatures for Malibu and Santa Monica predicted to range from 79 to 88 degrees.
The hottest day on record for Malibu and Santa Monica was September 27, 2010, where temperatures climbed to 104 and 103 degrees, respectively. The hottest day in 2026 was 86 degrees on July 29 and it was humid.
