UNITED STATES—Cesar Sayoc, 56, of Florida was arrested in connection to sending several pipe bombs via postal mail. He was charged with a total of five federal crimes including; transporting explosives, threats on former Presidents, threatening interstate communications, and for assaulting federal officials after mailing mysterious packages.
Pipe bombs were sent to Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Maxine Waters, Bill and Hillary Clinton, actor Robert De Niro, Corey Booker, Kamala Harris and former CIA Director John Brennan to name a few. The pipe bombs were sent in yellow envelopes containing a white powdery substance called Ricen. None of the devices detonated and there were no reports of an injuries.
President Trump praised authorities for quickly taking Sayoc into custody and indicated he would be prosecuted to the “fullest extent of the law.”
U.S. Attorney General, Jeff Sessions stated, “The charges may change or expand as the investigation proceeds.”
Sayoc, who is a registered Republican, has a long criminal history and has threatened Democrats in the past, including past of Vice President Joe Biden’s home and family, along with another article about a body found in the everglades with a tweeted message that read, “U hug your loved son, niece, wife, family real close everytime you walk out your home.”
