WEST HOLLYWOOD—The city of West Hollywood announced on its website the relaunch of the WeHo Public Access on Tuesday, September 16 following a five-year hiatus due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and to construction of a new studio space at the West Hollywood Park Aquatic & Recreation Center.

Starting Tuesday, the Public Access television station, which is viewable on Spectrum Channel 36 within West Hollywood, will officially resume programming and operations.

West Hollywood will host a special Open House on Tuesday, September 16 offering West Hollywood residents an opportunity to tour the newly renovated studio, to meet WeHoTV and Public Access TV staff, and to learn how to get involved in community broadcasting. Community members who are interested in attending the Open House can reserve a one-hour time slot at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., or 8 p.m. RSVP by visiting www.weho.org/whpa or by emailing whpa@weho.org. Timeslots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, as space in the Public Access studio is limited.

The West Hollywood Public Access Studio is located at 8750 El Tovar Place on the first floor/street level of the West Hollywood Aquatic & Recreation Center (ARC). The entrance is located near the ARC elevators on the south side of El Tovar Place between N. Robertson and N. San Vicente Boulevards, adjacent to the entry/exit driveways for the West Hollywood Park five-story parking structure, which is located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard.

Originally launched in 1990, West Hollywood Public Access provides residents with low-cost access to professional-grade broadcast equipment, training, and airtime on Spectrum Channel 36 within West Hollywood. West Hollywood Public Access closed its physical location at the former West Hollywood Park Auditorium and pivoted to virtual public access production and training services and pre-recorded programming in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this closure, the city moved forward with Phase II of its West Hollywood Park Master Plan to build the West Hollywood Park Aquatic & Recreation Center, a project that included WHPA’s brand-new facility and state-of-the-art Public Access studio.

West Hollywood Public Access has been a community resource for more than 35 years. Public Access programming plays an important role in supporting free expression, community engagement, and local democracy. For more details visit www.weho.org/whpa.
