BEVERLY HILLS—There are two members of The Beatles still alive, and one of them, Ringo Starr, came to Beverly Hills earlier this week to celebrate his 85th birthday.
Before he joined The Beatles as the drummer, Ringo performed in the group Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. After The Beatles split up, Ringo toured on his own, recorded his own albums, and contributed drumbeats to several records produced by John Lennon and later toured with the group Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. He also starred in several films alongside his fellow members of The Beatles and continued to appear in film and television and achieved fame for being the narrator in the first season of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends and the playing the role of Mister Conductor in the first season of the PBS series Shining Time Station.
During the celebration of Ringo Starr’s 85 birthday several of his songs were performed. The master of ceremonies for this event was the guitar player T Bone Burnett. Among those performing at this event were the singer Jackson Browne, the pop band Lucious, the singer Molly Tuttle and the singer Sam Phillips.
