SANTA MONICA—The city of Santa Monica will host Santa Monica 2050 on Monday, February 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Santa Monica Main Library to strategize how to best prepare the city’s economic future. In alignment with existing long-range plans related to the environment and land use, Santa Monica 2050 seeks to identify strategies to maintain economic vitality and enhance community wellbeing.

From June 2018 to November 2019, Santa Monica 2050 aimed to identify global trends. From September 2019 until November 2019, the program aimed to understand how global trends impacted Santa Monica and surrounding regions.

Continuing from November 2019 until January 2020, the program sought to quantify their research to analyze the impact of global trends on the city. Santa Monica 2050 is currently in Phase 4, the process of identifying strategies to mitigate and capitalize on those trends.

Phase 5 of the program aims to set goals and set targets to develop a final strategy to identify environmental sustainability.
